This second workshop has already SOLD OUT! Registrations for this course are no longer being accepted. Please CONTACT US to be put on a waiting list for other similar workshops which we may offer in the future. Thank you!
Due to overwhelming interest and response to the workshop on April 29 (which sold out in two days), this is our second offering of a one-day workshop for cordwood masonry for spring of 2017.
We are collaborating once again with cordwood experts Richard and Becky Flatau for a ONE DAY hands-on learning experience for just $60/person (includes lunch). This is a rare opportunity and limited to just 10 participants! If you have always wanted to learn something about cordwood construction and to try your hand at cordwood masonry with guided instruction, this is the workshop for you! In just one day you will learn the basics of wood / log selection, materials and equipment needed for an effective cordwood construction experience, mortar mixing, setting logs and mortar into a wall, tuck-pointing, maintenance information, and general tips and techniques that demonstrate best practices! Plus you will get hours of hands-on practice!! Come learn the best way to build with cordwood by getting your hands on a working project! We will be working on the in-progress Cordwood Kiosk at Kinstone. There are walls to be completed and there are still dragons and bottle-ends to be embedded into those walls… students will forever become part of this creative and functional Kinstone building! Should we complete the Kiosk project we will begin a cordwood sign for Kinstone, the design is currently in progress! Exciting!
Students will be participating in hands-on sessions only (no classroom instruction for this one-day event). You will get expert instructor demonstrations and individually supervised hands-on practice. Students will be able to see the thatched, cordwood Kinstone Chapel and our cordwood sauna over the lunch break. Plus, the entire megalithic Kinstone campus is available for wandering before or after the workshop as time allows.
Registered students who attend the course will receive lunch around mid-day (at no additional cost). Note that there is limited availability for students to camp onsite for free the night before the course (and/or the night of the course – for convenience); spaces are reserved on a first-come basis. Anyone wishing to camp at Kinstone must make arrangements via email or phone (see the Contact us link) in advance and only after having completed registration.
Note: If the course is cancelled by Kinstone for any reason, all registered students will receive a full refund of any tuition paid. In all other cases, cancellations are handled as described in our Cancellation Policy.
