SUMMARY:Drum Making with Wayne Manthey - June
DESCRIPTION:Making your own drum with Wayne Manthey is an experience of a lifetime! Join us! \n“The healing properties of a drum are found in the elements that make it: wood and animal hide. Making personal frame drums is a journey that is individually and spiritually meaningful… The drum symbolizes the heartbeat of life; the heartbeat of community. It is not simply an art form\, but a tool for cleansing\, centering and focusing one’s intentions for health and happiness.” ~ Wayne Manthey \n\n\nIn this educational workshop you will make your own one-sided drum. When people create their own drums they can’t help but develop deep connections to it. The drum you create becomes an extension of yourself and a gateway to greater understanding of your connection to all. \nMaking your own drum is a journey that you will remember for the rest of your life. It takes about 4 hours to make your drum. \n\n\n\nClass size is limited so each person can get enough individual attention during the workshop. All you need to do is show up with a bit of curiosity and a desire to have a drum of your own. That’s all you need\, really! \n\n\nWe start with a pre-constructed frame\, deer hides\, and a bucket of walnut stain. First\, you choose your frame\, lay out the hides\, and take a few moments of reflection to connect to this medium. After cutting out the drum circles\, Wayne will lead the group one step at a time\, through the rest of the process. All you need is to be there and do it! \n\nThere are no words that can completely describe what it feels like to make your own drum. Come experience it for yourself!\n\n\n\n\nDATE:  Saturday\, June 6\, 2026 \nTime: 12:30pm to 5:00pm (plan to arrive at least 10-15 minutes early; class goes to 4:30 with an extra 30 minutes for finishing up as/if required) \nLocation: the Kinstone Visitor Center \nCOST:  13 Inch Drum: $175  /  16 Inch Drum: $200 \nTICKET LINK:  Get your workshop ticket here. \nTicket includes instruction\, all required materials\, and general admission to Kinstone. \n\n\nThere are No Refunds unless the event is cancelled by Kinstone. \n\n\n\n\n\nAbout your instructor: Wayne Manthey \nBased in Minneapolis\, Minnesota\, USA\, Wayne Manthey is a nationally known drum maker and teacher of drum making. He has been making drums for over 33 years. His approach is spiritual\, honoring the animals who provided the hides and the trees who donated the wood. \nWayne began by making his own drums which eventually became a true calling to create drums and to teach others to do the same. He has a gallery and studio in Minneapolis where buyers and curious individuals can view his works of art. He has a variety of handmade drums at his studio\, each unique and made of animal hides such as elk or deer and accessorized by other materials including antlers and rocks. Visit his website at this link: https://waynemantheydrummaker.com/ \n\n\n\nNOTE: If you can’t make it to this event on either of the dates offered this year\, please Contact Us to let us know of your interest. If we have enough interest we will bring Wayne back again to do more workshops next year if possible.

SUMMARY:Summer Solstice Sunrise Observance
DESCRIPTION:Every Summer Solstice\, we stand and greet the sun as it enters the Great Stone Circle at sunrise. You are invited to join us as we recognize the passing of the seasons from Spring to Summer in this auspicious and sacred stone place. Note that Summer Solstice actually occurs at 3:24am on Sunday\, June 21 and we will stand together to celebrate it just a couple of hours later at sunrise!  Think about making a weekend out of it and come to the Summer Solstice Concert in the Great Stone Circle on Friday night\, join the storytelling event with Tracy Chipman on Saturday\, and then come to this sunrise observance on Sunday! \nIf it is not raining we will gather at 5:00 am in the Great Stone Circle in time to share a very short ritual before we witness the rising of the sun – actual sunrise is at 5:23am but it is usually 5:30 before it is visible in the stone circle. Feel free to arrive as early as 4:45am if you wish (that sounds sooooo early – but don’t go back to sleep!). \nGiven fair weather and a clear horizon\, we will watch the sun as it crests the ridge and is ushered through the Summer Solstice Corridor into the circle. It will set its golden glow upon anyone standing in the middle of the circle. Further\, it will cast the shadow of those persons standing in the center onto the stone directly in the path of the sun – the “Shadow Stone”. Fun fact: The Shadow Stone also marks the exact point of WINTER Solstice SUNSET\, i.e.  summer solstice sunrise and winter solstice sunset occur along the exact same line.  Truly magical. \nGiven cloudy weather\, we will not see the sunrise or our shadow\, but will greet the dawn of Summer ceremoniously regardless! We have had some amazing sunrise observances with clouds\, storms\, and fog – so one never knows what to expect!! This will be a quiet\, meditative event with a short opening rite and reading. Feel free to bring a reading or quote to share. Witness the arrival of Summer. Send Spring on its way with blessings. \nCOST: included with admission to Kinstone (pay in advance online OR pay in person in the Visitor Center upon arrival) \nDate: Sunday\, June 21\, 2026 \nTime: 5:00am – 6:30am \nNo Registration Required \nThis event is outdoors. Please note that we will not see the alignment if it is cloudy or if the horizon is obstructed by morning mist\, fog\, rain\, or clouds. If it is raining or storming this event will be cancelled. Dress for the weather\, be prepared to walk on dewy\, wet grass paths; bring a blanket or camp chair if you wish for your comfort; wear appropriate footwear\, jackets\, scarves\, hats\, and even gloves if needed! Bring your own insect repellent if you wish! \nCancellation will occur in case of RAIN or stormy weather. Cancellations will be posted ONLY on THIS event page and on the corresponding Facebook event page approximately 4 hours before the scheduled start time for this event. \nInteresting fact: The exact time of the astronomical Summer Solstice is Sunday\, June 21 at 3:24am CDT.  So this is indeed the first sunrise of Summer! \n  \nPhoto credit: Kristine Beck

SUMMARY:The Labyrinth & The Creative Spirit
DESCRIPTION:In this introductory workshop\, learn to use the labyrinth to focus your creative energies! Join Kathie Giorgio\, critically acclaimed author of novels\, story books\, essays and poetry as she presents this educational workshop on the use of the labyrinth as a tool to enhance and focus the creative process. If you have already taken this workshop and wish to learn more\, we have an advanced workshop you can join\, find more details at this link: Going Deeper Into The Labyrinth. \nThe labyrinth and the creative process go hand in hand. In this interactive workshop\, we will first take the time to define the four steps of the creative process: Preparation\, Incubation\, Illumination\, and Implementation. Then we will make these steps OUR steps – literally our footsteps – as we walk the labyrinth. \nAfter the discussion of the creative process\, we will proceed to the Kinstone Labyrinth where we will all walk the labyrinth. Upon reaching the center of the labyrinth\, participants will jot down notes or sketches of the images and thoughts they had on the spiral in. The walk from center back to the beginning is a focused time to let your idea(s) take shape. Upon stepping out of the labyrinth\, participants will start to formalize and work on their project – an art piece or written work – within the time allotted. \nAll participants will leave the workshop with a project well underway and helped on its way by turning our footsteps into the steps of the creative process. \n\nAll who take this workshop are encouraged to have an interest in the arts\, particularly writing\, literary arts and visual arts. Each person will focus on an individual project. You do not have to have a specific\, pre-determined project\, and in fact\, it is better to come with an open mind as the labyrinth will help you arrive at an idea. Please don’t feel that you already have to be an artist or writer to do this – anyone with an interest is encouraged to participate. \nPre-registration is required\, as space is limited. The fee includes instruction and a selection of materials; the workshop is expected to fill. \nAlthough some art and writing materials will be provided\, please bring your preferred art supplies and/or whatever it is you like to write on. SUMMARY:Monthly Community Healing Ritual - June
DESCRIPTION:Join us for monthly community healing rituals on fourth Saturdays – June 27 thru Oct 24. \n\n\n“Ritual is called for because our soul communicates things to us \nthat the body translates as need\, or want\, or absence. \nSo we enter into ritual in order to respond to the call of the soul.” \n― Malidoma Patrice Somé\, Ritual: Power\, Healing and Community\n\n\nJoin us for this monthly community healing ritual led by Erica Thibodeaux\, MS\, LPCC.  No experience is necessary. Everyone is welcome. \nDuring these events\, we will come together and create a ritual that emerges from the rhythm of all who are gathered\, their current needs\, and the guidance and support of the elemental beings of the fire (ancestors)\, water\, earth\, nature\, and mineral. \nWhat gets created in group ritual arises out of the participants voices. Together\, we will create something NEW based on the relationships each participant carries with them into our circle from their own inner wisdom that may or may not be already known. \nThis event is highly participatory. You are asked to arrive with an open heart and mind and a willingness to learn from the Elements themselves\, as well as willingness to support your fellow participants. Alcohol and drug use are not allowed during these events. \n\nCost: These rituals are donation based + the entrance fee to Kinstone ($10). Our hope is to keep these accessible to any who are feeling the call to community and nature-based healing. If the cost of entrance to Kinstone is prohibitive\, please reach out\, we have a scholarship fund for those in need. \nNo pre-registration is required; just show up with your Kinstone admission (pay in the Visitor Center before the event or check in at the Visitor Center if you have paid in advance or have your season pass) and bring a free-will donation for Erica (cash is appreciated and will be collected by Erica during the event). Note that Erica shares all donations with her elders to aid in the continuation of their work. \n\nDate: June 27 \nTime: 4:00pm to 7:00pm \nIf you’d like to learn more about the language of ritual\, join us in the parking area at 2pm before each event to help with set up\, planning and to begin learning the Language of Ritual. \nKinstone Location: The Pond \nTheme and Element: Shape Shifting (WATER) \n\nThis is a monthly series; all the dates\, locations and themes in the series are listed here: \n\n\nJune 27 | The Pond | Shape Shifting (WATER) \nJuly 25 | Under the Pines by the Yurt | Burial and Re-bEarth (EARTH) \nAugust 22 | The Great Stone Circle | Wisdom in Our Bones (MINERAL) \nSeptember 26 | The Dolmen | Tending the Ancestral (FIRE) \nOctober 24 | The Three Witnesses | Return to Authenticity (NATURE) \n\n\n\n\nAbout the leader: \nErica Thibodeaux\, MS\, LPCC\, is a licensed professional counselor in private practice Winona\, MN. SUMMARY:New Moon Awakening: Celestial Sisterhood Women's Circle
DESCRIPTION:All women are invited to join our monthly women’s circle around the fire and under the new moon starting on May 15! \nNew Moon Awakening: The Celestial Sisterhood is a monthly women’s gathering held at Kinstone generally on the Friday closest to the New Moon in the same month. Under the embrace of the new moon\, this event\, facilitated by Sierra Lynn of Yog Collective or Deanna Skroch\, invites women into a profound exploration of self and sisterhood here at this sacred stone sanctuary where the wisdom of the earth and the cosmos is embodied. \nIn this sacred space\, we will experience: \n\nIntentional movement that harmonizes our bodies with the rhythms of nature\, awakening our innate energy and grounding our spirits.\nGuided breathwork to deepen our connection to the divine within\, inviting clarity and the release of old patterns as we prepare to set our intentions of rebirth.\nEmotive dialogue\, to honor each woman’s story\, fostering a rich tapestry of shared experiences and insights. Our connection practices will cultivate a deep sense of unity\, allowing us to celebrate the power of vulnerability and the strength found in sisterhood.\n\nCloaked in the elements and held by the fire\, we close our gathering with meaningful ritual\, aligning our intentions with the lunar cycle and invoking the transformative energy of the new moon. Join us here for a journey of awakening and renewal\, as we embrace the magic of the new moon and the celestial sisterhood that binds us all. \nAfter the event ends\, all participants are asked to leave Kinstone in a timely manner. If you wish to wander the grounds\, please come earlier in the day\, prior to the start of the event. \n\nMonthly schedule: generally the second Friday of the month (usually the closest Friday to the new moon) from May through October \nDates: May 15\, June 12\, July 10\, August 14\, September 11\, and October 9 \nTime: 6:30pm – 8:30pm \nLocation: Around the Fire in the Stargazer Circle at Kinstone\, S3439 Cole Bluff Lane\, Fountain City\, Wisconsin 54629 \nCost: These monthly new moon gatherings are donation based PLUS the entrance fee to Kinstone ($10). SUMMARY:Monthly Community Healing Ritual - July
\n\nDate: July 25 \nTime: 4:00pm to 7:00pm \nIf you’d like to learn more about the language of ritual\, join us in the parking area at 2pm before each event to help with set up\, planning and to begin learning the Language of Ritual. \nKinstone Location: Under the Pines by the Yurt \nTheme and Element: Burial and Re-bEarth (EARTH) \n\nThis is a monthly series; all the dates\, locations and themes in the series are listed here: \n\n\nJune 27 | The Pond | Shape Shifting (WATER) \nJuly 25 | Under the Pines by the Yurt | Burial and Re-bEarth (EARTH) \nAugust 22 | The Great Stone Circle | Wisdom in Our Bones (MINERAL) \nSeptember 26 | The Dolmen | Tending the Ancestral (FIRE) \nOctober 24 | The Three Witnesses | Return to Authenticity (NATURE) \n\n\n\n\nAbout the leader: \nErica Thibodeaux\, MS\, LPCC\, is a licensed professional counselor in private practice Winona\, MN.
SUMMARY:Monthly Community Healing Ritual - August
\n\nDate: August 22 \nTime: 4:00pm to 7:00pm \nIf you’d like to learn more about the language of ritual\, join us in the parking area at 2pm before each event to help with set up\, planning and to begin learning the Language of Ritual. \nKinstone Location: The Great Stone Circle \nTheme and Element: Wisdom in Our Bones (MINERAL) \n\nThis is a monthly series; all the dates\, locations and themes in the series are listed here: \n\n\nJune 27 | The Pond | Shape Shifting (WATER) \nJuly 25 | Under the Pines by the Yurt | Burial and Re-bEarth (EARTH) \nAugust 22 | The Great Stone Circle | Wisdom in Our Bones (MINERAL) \nSeptember 26 | The Dolmen | Tending the Ancestral (FIRE) \nOctober 24 | The Three Witnesses | Return to Authenticity (NATURE) \n\n\n\n\nAbout the leader: \nErica Thibodeaux\, MS\, LPCC\, is a licensed professional counselor in private practice Winona\, MN. Erica has taught mindfulness meditation in diverse settings such as universities\, corporate environments\, and local organizations.  She uses creative and empowering methods to evoke client-centered transformation and provide individuals\, couples\, and families with tools to take and use over their lifetime. It is an ideal tool for stress reduction. Gongs and singing bowls are useful in resolving emotional and physical dissonance. Magic happens when there is no separation between the gong or the bowl\, the player and the listener. Playing and listening to gongs and bowls is about spiritual\, physical and emotional resolution. SUMMARY:Going Deeper Into The Labyrinth
DESCRIPTION:This advanced workshop takes us deeper into the process of using the labyrinth as a focus tool for boosting creativity and enhancing our creative spirit. Join Kathie Giorgio\, critically acclaimed author of novels\, story books\, essays and poetry as she presents this advanced educational workshop on the use of the labyrinth as a tool to enhance and focus the creative process.  This class is designed for those who have already taken the introductory workshop\, The Labyrinth & The Creative Spirit\, either earlier this year or at any time in the past. \n\nIn this workshop\, we’re going deep into the creative process with the labyrinth as our guide. \nWe will discover what do you do if you aren’t near a place with a labyrinth or what if it’s Wisconsin\, and for part of the year\, the labyrinth is under snow? There are still ways to use the labyrinth\, and one involves not leaving your home – and one\, you don’t even have to leave your desk or table! \nWe will start with a discussion of your creative work and what you’re looking for from the labyrinth. We will still walk the lovely Kinstone labyrinth. But then you will also walk a canvas labyrinth\, which can be used inside or out\, and we’ll experiment with finger labyrinths. Throughout\, you’ll be working on your project. \nThere are ways to incorporate the labyrinth into your daily creative practice. You’ll start here\, at Kinstone\, and then continue in your own space! \n\nAll participants will leave the workshop with a project well underway and helped on its way by turning our footsteps into the steps of the creative process. Pre-registration is required\, as space is limited. The fee includes instruction and a selection of materials; the workshop is expected to fill. \nAlthough some art and writing materials will be provided\, please bring your preferred art supplies and/or whatever it is you like to write on. A sense of familiarity is often welcomed when working on something brand new. You are free to bring your own writing tools\, brushes\, charcoal or pastels\, or whatever you wish to work with\, and if you write\, feel free to bring your laptop or tablet or actual notebooks or paper and a favorite pen! \nPlease bring your own sack lunch. Beverages (e.g. water\, tea\, coffee\, sparkling water) will be provided. \nDate: Saturday\, August 29 \nTime: 10:00am to 3:00pm (plan to arrive at least 10 minutes early to check in and get settled!) \nLocation: the Kinstone Visitor Center / the Kinstone Labyrinth (weather permitting); S3439 Cole Bluff Lane\, Fountain City\, WI\, 54629 \nCOST: Regular Price: $79.00; Early Bird price through July 28: $69.00 \nTicket includes instruction\, a selection of materials\, and general admission to Kinstone. \nTICKET LINK: Get your ticket for this workshop here. \nRefund Policy:  There are no refunds unless the event is cancelled by Kinstone. SUMMARY:Drum Making with Wayne Manthey - September
Come experience it for yourself!\n\n\n\n\nDATE:  Saturday\, September 12\, 2026 \nTime: 12:30pm to 5:00pm (plan to arrive at least 10-15 minutes early; class goes to 4:30 with an extra 30 minutes for finishing up as/if required) \nLocation: the Kinstone Visitor Center \nCOST:  13 Inch Drum: $175  /  16 Inch Drum: $200 \nTICKET LINK: Get your ticket for this workshop here.
