SUMMARY:Drum Making Workshop with Wayne Manthey
DESCRIPTION:“The healing properties of a drum are found in the elements that make it: wood and animal hide. Making personal frame drums is a journey that is individually and spiritually meaningful… The drum symbolizes the heartbeat of life; the heartbeat of community. It is not simply an art form\, but a tool for cleansing\, centering and focusing one’s intentions for health and happiness.” ~ Wayne Manthey \n\n\nIn this educational workshop you will make your own one-sided drum. When people create their own drums they can’t help but develop deep connections to it. The drum you create becomes an extension of yourself and a gateway to greater understanding of your connection to all. \nMaking your own drum is a journey that you will remember for the rest of your life. It takes about 4 hours to make your drum. \n\n\n\nClass size is limited so each person can get enough individual attention during the workshop. All you need to do is show up with a bit of curiosity and a desire to have a drum of your own. That’s all you need\, really! \n\n\nWe start with a pre-constructed frame\, deer hides\, and a bucket of walnut stain. First\, you choose your frame\, lay out the hides\, and take a few moments of reflection to connect to this medium. After cutting out the drum circles\, Wayne will lead the group one step at a time\, through the rest of the process. All you need is to be there and do it! \n\nThere are no words that can completely describe what it feels like to make your own drum. Come experience it for yourself!\n\nDate: Saturday\, June 3\, 2023 \nTime: 12:30pm to 4:30pm (plan to arrive at least 10 minutes early!) \nLocation: the Kinstone Education Center \nCOST:  13 Inch Drum: $155  /  16 Inch Drum: $180 \nTicket includes instruction\, all required materials\, and general admission to Kinstone. \n  \n\n\nThere are No Refunds unless the event is cancelled by Kinstone. \n\n\n\n\n\nAbout your instructor: Wayne Manthey \nBased in Minneapolis\, Minnesota\, USA\, Wayne Manthey is a nationally known drum maker and teacher of drum making. He has been making drums for over 33 years. His approach is spiritual\, honoring the animals who provided the hides and the trees who donated the wood. \nWayne began by making his own drums which eventually became a true calling to create drums and to teach others to do the same. He has a gallery and studio in Minneapolis where buyers and curious individuals can view his works of art. He has a variety of handmade drums at his studio\, each unique and made of animal hides such as elk or deer and accessorized by other materials including antlers and rocks. Visit his website at this link: https://waynemantheydrummaker.com/ \n\n\n\nNOTE: If you can’t make it to this event\, please Contact Us to let us know of your interest. If we have enough interest we will bring Wayne back again to do a second workshop.

SUMMARY:CANCELLED SoulCollage® Workshop - Listening to the Stones
DESCRIPTION:CANCELLED\nWe are sorry to report that the SoulCollage® workshop scheduled for 5/21/23 at Kinstone has been cancelled by the instructor due to low attendance.  All tickets already purchased have been refunded in full. \nListening to the Stones \nSoulCollage® Workshop  \nJoin SoulCollage® facilitator Cynthea Gillespie\, for an afternoon of deep connection—with the stones\, with the earth\, and with the self. With its deeply energetic grounds\, Kinstone provides a special landscape for doing the transformative work of SoulCollage®. \nThrough SoulCollage®\, we go within to access our own deep inner wisdom. Each person will create personal collaged cards using found images from magazines\, recycled art books\, and other sources\, scissors\, and glue. You don’t need to be an artist to create your own SoulCollage® cards. All that’s required is a sense of playful curiosity and a willingness to let your intuition speak. \nWe’ll interpret and “read” the cards for ourselves and discover personal guidance and inspiration.  We’ll spend time doing individual and small group activities that will help us interpret the meaning of our new cards.  You’ll leave the workshop with a renewed sense of appreciation for your soul’s journey. \nRomance your own soul… and witness your own inner beauty. \n\nDate: Sunday\, May 21\, 2023 \nTime: 12:30pm – 4:00pm \nCost: $60 (This includes admission to Kinstone as well as all materials.) \nLocation:  Kinstone Education Center\, S3439 Cole Bluff Lane\, Fountain City\, WI 54629 \nAll materials provided (i.e. mat boards\, images\, scissors\, glue\, magazines and handouts). \nPlease plan to arrive early to spend time exploring Kinstone and walking the labyrinth if you so desire.  Bring your own water bottle. Classroom time begins at 12:30 PM. \n\nWhat is SoulCollage®? \n“SoulCollage® is an easy\, enjoyable\, intuitive collage process for self-discovery and community. People make their own decks of collaged cards for their personal use from found images. The SoulCollage® method helps people discover their unique inner/outer guides and challengers\, and access their own wisdom to answer their life questions. SoulCollage® is a method used in many contexts and applications. Visit About SoulCollage® or The SoulCollage® Method and read SoulCollage® Evolving for more information.” \n\nAbout your facilitator: \nCynthea Gillespie has been writing professionally for more than 25 years. While living in Santa Fe\, NM\, she discovered her inner artist and began experimenting with combining imagery with her writing. A heart-based\, creative intuitive\, Cynthea is passionate about leading others into deeper self-discovery. Following a job loss in 2016\, she discovered the powerful transformational tool of SoulCollage® and became certified to teach. An experienced workshop provider\, Cynthea facilitates creative workshops in Natalie Goldberg’s Writing Practice\, as well as delivering workshops in Visual Journaling as a tool of self-discovery and SoulCollage®. She lives in La Crosse\, WI.

SUMMARY:Monthly Drum Circle in the Stones
DESCRIPTION:Kinstone + Connections = Kinections!\nAre you looking for more opportunities for to deepen your connections to self and others? Come explore the mysteries of your inner landscape while sharing energies with the mystical\, magical landscapes of Kinstone. \nJoin us for monthly Kinections through DRUMMING on first Tuesdays. \n\nEvery First Tuesday\, May through October\,  – yes\, even on the Fourth of July – join us for a drum circle in the Great Stone Circle; led by Cheri Bunker. Cheri is a trained drumming facilitator and has led many drum circles and programs that promote the positive effect of the drum on health. \nDrumming is an ancient practice that feeds the soul and the mind and is a great wellness tool with many documented health benefits. Join us outdoors in the midst of the energy of the Great Stone Circle. Each month we will do different types of drumming. For example\, one month may be all frame drums and another a mix of world drums and hand percussion; sometimes we may sit in a circle and other times we may move about or walk in rhythm. \nAbsolutely no drumming experience is necessary and if you do not have a drum\, one will be provided for you. If you do have a drum or hand percussion instrument\, please bring it along! Participants are encouraged to move freely within the circle with drums or dance to the primal beat. We will end each circle with a melodic rhythm meditation that is deeply moving. Please bring a chair or blanket for your comfort if you wish. \nThe energy exchange happening within Kinstone during time is so important. The more who join in\, the more connections can be made and deepened. Come on\, join in\, and make a “kinection”! \nNo registration is required. Rain or shine! \nWHEN:  first Tuesdays from 5:30pm to 6:30pm \nLocation/Meeting Area: The group will meet in the Great Stone Circle as a general rule. SUMMARY:Vernal Equinox Sunrise Observance
DESCRIPTION:Vernal (Spring) Equinox Morning Observance\nWatch the Sunrise Alignment Enlighten the Heart Stone \nUPDATE Monday\, March 18\, 7pm: Due to lots of snow and ice\, we may not be able to get out to see the alignment! SAFETY FIRST! We will begin this event inside the Kinstone Education Center – so plan to go directly to the building when you arrive. Parking is limited – don’t get stuck by parking in the snow. Park in the little gravel lot next to the Education Center – pull in tightly so we can fit as many cars as possible. THANK YOU.  If the wind chill is still as bad as it is today\, please bring extra warm layers if we do decide to go outside you will need them! \nWeather and snow conditions permitting\, we will be outdoors as we stand and watch the sunrise. If the weather is bad\, we will cancel – watch for cancellation updates (if any) on the day of the event.  \nAt Kinstone we have a unique alignment visible only at Equinox at sunrise\, we call it The Heart Alignment. Stand with us in The Three Witnesses sculpture as the sun aligns through the Equinox Window and highlights the Heart Stone. Come and see! \nVernal (Spring) Equinox is an astronomically significant solar event. It occurs when the sun is midpoint in its journey from Winter Solstice to Summer Solstice. The sun appears to rise at due east and set at due west. It is traditionally seen as a time of balance. The light of day and the dark of night are equal. It is the herald of spring; a time for new beginnings\, growth\, and seeking the joy of the light. \nCOST: admission to Kinstone (pay in advance online OR place your cash admission in the Blue Payment Box attached to the Information Sign Board near the parking areas); No Registration Required \nDate: Monday\, March 20\, 2023  Time: 6:30am – 8:00am \nActual sunrise is expected at 7:10am for our location. However\, with the topography specific to Kinstone\, the time we witness it may be just a bit later. Come at 6:30 to enjoy the predawn horizons and our brief program before we stand to watch the sun arrive. \nWe will gather in the center of The Three Witnesses sculpture at Kinstone. Given fair weather and clear skies\, we will watch the sun as it crests the ridge and beams through the Equinox Window to light up the heart of the middle standing stone\, known as the “Heart Stone”. Given cloudy weather\, we will not see the sunrise\, but will greet it ceremoniously regardless. \n\n\nThis will be a quiet\, meditative event with a short opening rite and reading to welcome Spring. After the reading\, if the sun is visible\, participants may wish to watch the alignment through the Equinox Window\, see the heart highlighted in the center stone Witness\, sit in the light of the sun\, take photos\, and greet the sunrise. \nDress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear\, jackets\, scarves\, hats and gloves! Bring a camp chair or blanket to sit on\, for your comfort\, if you wish. Be prepared for it to be breezy and cool up here on the ridge! (Many people underestimate the wind and cold.) \nThis event is outdoors and will be held only in good weather. If it is raining or snowing\, this event will be cancelled.  Cancellations will be posted only on this event page and on the corresponding Facebook event page at least one (1) hour before the scheduled start time for this event. \n\nTRADITIONAL INFO: The Celtic Wheel of the Year and other pagan traditions call this day “Ostara”. Ostara originates from celebrations dedicated to the German goddess Eostre. This is considered to be a precursor to the Christian celebration of Easter. The beginning of spring\, Vernal Equinox / Ostara is a good time to plant seeds – both literally and figuratively. This is also a good time to begin acting on the intentions you set during Winter Solstice (Yule\, Dec 2o-22) and St. Brigid’s Day (Imbolc\, Feb 1). The seeds you plant at Vernal Equinox/Ostara will be ready for harvest during the warmer months and the sacred days of  May Day (Beltane\, May 1-5)\, Summer Solstice (Litha\, June 20-22) and  celebrations of the first harvest (Lughnasadh\, August 1). \nHAPPY SPRING! \nInteresting fact: The exact time of the astronomical Vernal Equinox is Monday\, March 20\, 2023\, at 4:24pm CDT.   \nPhoto credit: Kristine Beck

SUMMARY:Last Sunset of Winter - Vernal Equinox Evening Observance

If the weather is bad\, we will cancel – watch for cancellation updates (if any) on the day of the event.  \nThis Sunset Alignment event is held the evening before the date of Equinox as we say farewell to Winter by watching its last sunset together.  \nAt Kinstone we have a unique alignment visible only at Equinox at sunset. Stand with us and the Enlightenment Stones (Atlas and Lancelot) as the sun aligns to shine through the perforations in Lancelot and cast a line of bright points of light onto Atlas. Come and see! \nSpring (Vernal) Equinox is an astronomically significant solar event. It occurs when the sun is midpoint in its journey from Winter Solstice to Summer Solstice. The sun appears to rise at due east and set at due west. It is traditionally seen as a time of balance. The light of day and the dark of night are equal. However\, with the topography specific to Kinstone\, the time we witness it is always just a bit earlier than expected. Come at 6:30 and enjoy the last light of winter before the sun sets. \n\n\nThis will be a quiet\, meditative event with a short opening rite and reading to send Winter off with a flourish. Given fair weather and clear skies as the sun sets in the West\, we will witness the light as it passes through the “Wise One” (Lancelot) and enlightens the “World” (Atlas). If the sunlight is strong enough and unobstructed by clouds on the horizon\, we will see a line of polka-dots on Atlas and a select few folks may be able to “catch the sun” as it aligns with the perforations in Lancelot. We will begin watching for opportunities to Catch the Sun immediately after our readings. \nDress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear\, jackets\, scarves\, hats and gloves. Bring a camp chair or blanket to sit on\, for your comfort\, if you wish. Be prepared for it to be breezy and cool up here on the ridge. During this event\, guests who have signed up will be invited\, in order of sign-up time\, to catch the sun as and if weather and sunlight conditions permit. After that\, anyone attending can try this on a first-come basis. As many as we can get through will be given a chance to be photographed with their hands catching the sun – bring a friend who can be your photographer! \n\nHAPPY SPRING! \nInteresting fact: The exact time of the astronomical Vernal Equinox is Monday\, March 20\, 2023\, at 4:24pm CDT.  \nPhoto credit: Kristine Beck

We welcome Cheri Bunker as our facilitator. \nThe facilitator will be present and drumming with the land and the standing stones each THIRD Friday; the energy exchange happening within Kinstone during this hour each week is so important. SUMMARY:September New Moon Women's Circle
DESCRIPTION:IMPORTANT:  DUE TO THE CURRENT COVID-19 SITUATION\, WE WILL ONLY HOLD THIS EVENT OUTDOORS AND ONLY IF THE WEATHER PERMITS. KEEP AN EYE ON THIS PAGE AND ON THE CORRESPONDING FACEBOOK EVENT PAGE FOR LAST MINUTE UPDATES. THANK YOU! \n\nThe Kinstone New Moon Women’s Circle is a Sister Circle. We follow the guidelines of the Global Sisterhood. A Sister Circle is a safe and sacred place where we can get real\, share our journeys\, insights\, and stories. We can cultivate self-love and authentic connection. In circle we can all speak our truth and be seen and heard for who we are. All women are invited to join in our circle\, especially women who desire to create supportive relationships with other women\, women who are feeling overwhelmed or stressed and are looking for some rejuvenation\, and women who are looking for ways to find and express the Sacred in their daily lives. \nWe have selected the Friday closest to the actual new moon and still in the same month as the date of our New Moon Women Circle events. The cost is included in your admission to Kinstone. Join us! Please share these events with other women who may be interested. \n\nWhat to expect: In circle\, we discuss the theme for the month\, then join in a short group heart meditation\, followed by a time for personal sharing – feelings\, questions\, truths\, stories\, poems\, and more. In this space we are free to celebrate our individuality as well as our collective strength\, fearlessness\, nurturing\, healing and gifts. Come as you are. \nDate: Friday\, September 23\, 2022  Time: 6:30pm to 8:30pm (fyi: the date of the actual New Moon is September 25) \nLocation:  Kinstone\, S3439 Cole Bluff Lane\, Fountain City\, Wisconsin 54629 \nCost: included with admission to Kinstone ($10/person) Pay in Advance or bring cash with you (exact change\, please) \n\n\nTheme: Restoring Balance: I Heal the Masculine and Feminine Within \nAstrology: Libra (Air Sign\, ruled by Venus) \nKeywords: Harmony\, partnership\, intellect\, commitment\, beautification\, peace\, intuition\, collaboration\, balance\, fairness\, graciousness\, artistry\, symmetry\, love \nIMPORTANT: Come prepared to share! Feel free to share what is on your heart\, something you have written or bring a short poem\, quote\, or story that speaks to you – this may be relevant to the theme for the month or could be anything that you find inspirational or that highlights the unique strengths of women. \nWHAT ELSE TO BRING:  Cash for admission\, a chair and/or blanket to sit on outdoors\, sunscreen\, insect repellent\, extra layers of clothing\, a water bottle\, flashlights or headlamps for dark nights. \n\nEnvisioning thoughts from our Global Sisterhood leaders for this month: \n\nFeel within yourself deep love and compassion for your inner masculine and inner feminine. Feel them within you as equal parts that make you whole.\nEnvision these two parts of you coming into balance and harmony\, blossoming into their most positive potential. Feel the empathy of the feminine and the protection of the masculine within you as you come into sacred union.\nNow\, envision the same inner union within every being alive on Earth.\nImagine all children growing up with healthy role models\, being raised with a deep respect for healthy feminine and healthy masculine qualities.\nEnvision all children becoming adults who value intuition\, emotion\, compassion\, and love\, just as much as they value strength\, courage\, discipline\, and action.\nImagine and feel the impact of every woman on earth feeling safe and empowered in their feminine essence\, while gracefully embodying their divine masculine qualities to stand as noble caregivers\, protectors\, and leaders of this world.\nFeel the vibration of gender harmony uplifting and supporting humanity\, ourselves\, our families\, our communities\, and our world.\n\nIntention for this Month: \n\nConnected with women all around the globe on this new moon\, let us create the prayer and intention that the entire world is healing and transforming as the divine feminine and divine masculine forces in every person\, everywhere\, arise together to restore balance to our world as all people everywhere choose to respect\, support\, and value our differences and our oneness.\n\nSome questions for contemplation / inspiration for sharing this Month: \n\nWhat does masculine and feminine mean to you both internally as well as externally?\nDo you have a tendency to express more masculine or feminine energy? Are you more comfortable expressing your feminine or masculine…at home? At work? With friends? With your family?\nWhere might you be suppressing your feminine energy in favor of the masculine\, or vice versa? Why do you feel you are suppressing it?\nHave you ever been in a romantic partnership where you embodied more masculine energy than your partner? How did it impact you and your partnership physically\, emotionally\, spiritually?\nDo you feel comfortable being supported by and asking for support from men?\nDo you feel comfortable praising men?\nHow do you think we\, as women can heal our collective judgment\, rage\, and fear of men? How do you think we as women can support men in healing their collective judgment\, rage\, and fear of women?\n\n——————————————————————————– \nGENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE Monthly KINSTONE NEW MOON WOMEN’S CIRCLE Gatherings \nWomen have been gathering in a healing\, sharing sister circle at Kinstone on the New Moon since March 2016 when the first International Women’s Day was launched. We average about 15 women at our circles. Sometimes less\, sometimes more. We’ve had as few as 3 and as many as 42 show up! We host an in-person event on the Friday closest to the New Moon and still in the same month during our normal open season\, May through October. \nIn circle\, we join in a short group heart meditation\, then we have a time for personal sharing – feelings\, questions\, truths\, stories\, poems\, and more. In this space we are free to celebrate our individuality as well as our collective strength\, fearlessness\, nurturing\, healing and gifts. Come as you are. The cost is included in your admission to Kinstone. Join us! Please share these events with other women who may be interested. \nKinstone has some amazing sacred spaces and we like to use them as much as possible. We typically meet in the Stargazer Circle around the fire; however\, we may gather in the Great Stone Circle\, Three Witnesses circle\, or other outdoor sacred place at Kinstone (weather permitting). When the pandemic is no longer an issue we can meet inside our beautiful education center when the weather is not cooperative. Equinox means ‘Equal night’ in Latin. Everywhere on the planet (except the extreme poles\, where it will be about to change from 24 hours of light to 24 hours of dark\, or vice versa)\, during the 24 hours of the equinox\, will have equal amounts of daylight and darkness. We’ll all have the same\, 12 hours of dark and 12 hours of light. Everyone on the planet experiences the same. Regardless of religion\, race\, wealth or location we all share in this simple experience. What a way to remember our similarities and our one-ness. We are one human community.” ~Kristine Beck \nTHANK YOU for supporting us and joining us in honoring our waters\, our world\, and our community! \nThe 4 Ground Midwest Land Art Biennial 2022 event is sponsored by Franconia Sculpture Park in Schafer\, Minnesota in partnership with Arts Midwest and International Sculpture Center.

\nDate: Friday\, August 26\, 2022  Time: 6:30pm to 8:30pm (fyi: the date of the actual New Moon is August 27) \nLocation:  Kinstone\, S3439 Cole Bluff Lane\, Fountain City\, Wisconsin 54629 \nCost: included with admission to Kinstone ($10/person) Pay in Advance or bring cash with you (exact change\, please) \n\n\nTheme: The Great Mother: I am her daughter\, Holy and Sovereign \nAstrology: Virgo (Earth\, ruled by Mercury) \nKeywords: Blessings\, harmony\, luck\, positive energy\, uplift\, intuition\, spiritual guidance\, care for others\, relaxation \nIMPORTANT: Come prepared to share! Did your own ideas for yourself align with them?\nIf you could share a truth with every child in the world that they would then take to heart and embody\, what would it be?\nWhat would you do with your life if you could do anything\, and other people’s opinions did not affect you at all?\nWhat activities in your life make you feel most wild\, free\, and connected to your primal power?\n\n——————————————————————————– \nGENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE Monthly KINSTONE NEW MOON WOMEN’S CIRCLE Gatherings \nWomen have been gathering in a healing\, sharing sister circle at Kinstone on the New Moon since March 2016 when the first International Women’s Day was launched. All donations go to the leader for the evening and to Kinstone for use of the space. \n\nWHAT IS A DRUM CIRCLE? \nA drum circle is a gathering of people playing drums and percussion instruments\, usually sitting in a circle and sometimes led by a trained facilitator. Participants have claimed that drum circles boost energy\, uplift spirits\, release tension and stress\, offer healing\, and promote community. \n\nFRIDAY KIN-ECTION EXPERIENCES \n\nFIRST Fridays: artistic expression sessions\, come make a prayer flag for our “Growing Family” art installation\nSECOND Fridays: group meditation\nTHIRD Fridays: drumming circles \nFOURTH Fridays: restorative yoga / movement sessions\nFIFTH Fridays: open practice; the fifth Fridays of the month (there are just 2 throughout the 2022 season) shall remain open for individual practices with no designated event\, theme or leader. SUMMARY:Friday Kinections - Meditation (Second Fridays)
DESCRIPTION:Kinstone + Connections = Kinections!\nAre you looking for more opportunities for to deepen your connections to self and others? Join us at these open gathering times when we can be at Kinstone together to strengthen the body\, mind and spirit. We will be offering various experiences on Fridays during our open season led by various teachers\, artists\, drummers\, yogis\, and others from the region.  Times are the same each week and they are always donation based. We hope you join us as often as you can. \nThe idea is for us to regenerate and renew our relationships to ourselves\, others\, and our amazing natural world. Come explore the mysteries of your inner landscape while sharing energies with the mystical\, magical landscapes of Kinstone. \nKinections Through Meditation on Second Fridays \nEvery SECOND Friday\, May through October\, join us for a group meditation. We welcome Erica Thibodeaux as our leader. She has years of meditation experience with a focus on nature based meditation. She will be present to hold the space for the group. Some portion of the hour may be guided\, there could be sound or music\, and/or some of the time may be silent. The leader is available to provide basic guidance. \nThe leader will be present and meditating with the land and the standing stones each SECOND Friday; the energy exchange happening within Kinstone during this hour each week is so important. The more who join in the more connections can be made and deepened. Come on\, join in\, and make a “kinection”! \nNo registration is required. Rain or shine! \nLocation/Meeting Area: The group will meet in the Great Stone Circle as a general rule. If it is raining\, the group will meet under the pavilion of the Dragon’s Keep or inside the Chapel of Creation depending upon the number of participants. If there is thunder\, lightning\, or high winds\, the event will be cancelled. Come early and wander the grounds\, visit your favorite standing stones\, and get inspired. \nWhat to bring: water bottle\, mat and/or blanket\, chair or cushion\, and/or other items you wish for your comfort including your own sunscreen and/or insect repellent \nCOST:  Admission to Kinstone…  and… the leaders appreciate a $5 to $10 suggested donation. \nThis is an informal\, donation based offering; which basically means come as you are and pay what you can using the suggested donation as a starting place. You must have paid your admission to Kinstone upon entering the grounds (either by credit card in advance online or in cash in the blue payment boxes on the information boards). There will be a separate collection point at the event where donations for the event will be taken. If you can pay the full suggested amount for the experience\, wonderful! If you can pay more than the suggested amount that would be awesome as you may be paying it forward for someone who cannot afford it. If you cannot afford the suggested amount\, pay what you can\, we understand. All are welcome no matter what their financial status is. We just ask that you make an honest donation.
