Join us to celebrate the passing of the seasons from Spring to Summer. The exact time of the Summer Solstice is Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at 11:24pm CDT. We will gather to celebrate it at sunrise on Wednesday, June 21. These event gives us all a chance to experience the special alignment on the day in the large stone circle. The sun will be ushered into the circle through the Summer Solstice Corridor. It will then cast the shadow of anyone who is in the center of the circle onto the Winter Solstice Sunset Stone to the southwest. Truly magical!

5:15 am – 6:15am Sunrise Gathering
Come experience the Summer Solstice sunrise as we gather in the center of the large stone circle at Kinstone. Given fair weather and clear skies, we will watch the sun as it crests the ridge and beams through the Summer Solstice Corridor to light up anyone standing in the middle of the circle. Further, it will cast the shadow of those persons standing there onto the stone directly in the path of the sun. This stone happens to be the marker for the exact point of WINTER Solstice SUNSET! Isn’t that fun fact!?
Given cloudy or rainy weather, we will not see the sunrise or the shadow, but will greet it ceremoniously regardless! This will be a quiet, meditative event with a short opening rite and reading. Witness the arrival of Summer. Send Spring on its way with blessings. This gathering will last about 45 minutes. The actual sunrise is at 5:23am, but the topography of Kinstone means it will be just a little different – we believe the exact time will be closer to 5:35am. Be there early, just in case!
This event is outdoors and will be held rain or shine. Cancellation will occur in case of a major storm. Dress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear, scarves, hats and even gloves if needed!
