SUMMARY:Summer Solstice Sunrise Observance
DESCRIPTION:Kinstone + Connections = Kinections!\nAre you looking for more opportunities to deepen your connections to Nature\, self and others? Come witness the arrival of Summer\, connect with the seasons\, and share energies with the mystical\, magical landscapes of Kinstone. \n\nEvery Summer Solstice\, we stand and greet the sun as it enters the Great Stone Circle at sunrise. You are invited to join us as we recognize the passing of the seasons from Spring to Summer in this auspicious and sacred stone place. \nIf it is not raining we will gather at 5:00 am in the Great Stone Circle in time to share a very short ritual before we witness the rising of the sun – actual sunrise is at 5:23am but it is usually 5:30 before it visible in the stone circle. Feel free to arrive as early as 4:45am if you wish (that sounds sooooo early – but don’t go back to sleep!). \nGiven fair weather and a clear horizon\, we will watch the sun as it crests the ridge and is ushered through the Summer Solstice Corridor into the circle. It will set its golden glow upon anyone standing in the middle of the circle. Further\, it will cast the shadow of those persons standing in the center onto the stone directly in the path of the sun – the “Shadow Stone”. \nFun fact: The Shadow Stone also marks the exact point of WINTER Solstice SUNSET\, i.e.  summer solstice sunrise and winter solstice sunset occur along the exact same line!  Truly magical! \nGiven cloudy weather\, we will not see the sunrise or our shadow\, but will greet the dawn of Summer ceremoniously regardless! This will be a quiet\, meditative event with a short opening rite and reading. Feel free to bring a reading or quote to share. Witness the arrival of Summer. Send Spring on its way with blessings. \nCOST: admission to Kinstone (pay in advance online OR place your cash admission in the Blue Payment Box attached to the Information Sign Board near the parking areas); No Registration Required \nDate: Thursday\, June 20\, 2024 (rain date: June 21) \nTime: 5:00am – 6:00am \nThis event is outdoors. Please note that we will not see the alignment if it is cloudy or if the horizon is obstructed by morning mist\, fog\, rain\, or clouds. If it is raining or storming this event will be cancelled. Dress for the weather\, be prepared to walk on dewy\, wet grass paths; bring a blanket or camp chair if you wish for your comfort; wear appropriate footwear\, jackets\, scarves\, hats\, and even gloves if needed! Bring your own insect repellent if you wish! \nCancellation will occur in case of RAIN. Cancellations will be posted ONLY on THIS event page and on the corresponding Facebook event page no sooner than 4 hours and no later than 1 hour before the scheduled start time for this event. If this event is cancelled due to weather\, we will try again on the following morning (June 21) at the same time – assuming the weather has improved. \nInteresting fact: The exact time of the astronomical Summer Solstice is Thursday\, June 20 at 3:50 pm CDT.  \nPhoto credit: Kristine Beck

SUMMARY:Autumnal Equinox Sunrise Observance
DESCRIPTION:Autumn Equinox Morning Observance\nWatch the Sunrise Alignment Highlight the Heart Stone \n\n\n\nWe are proceeding in the cloudy weather. Any who wish to may gather with us for a short program but we will NOT see the alignment due to the overcast skies!   \n\nThis event will be held as scheduled as long as the weather is good. We will be outdoors as we stand and watch the sunrise. If the weather is bad\, we will cancel – watch for cancellation updates (if any) on the day of the event.  \nAt Kinstone we have a unique alignment visible only at Equinox at sunrise\, we call it The Heart Alignment. Stand with us in The Three Witnesses sculpture as the sun aligns through the Equinox Window and highlights the Heart Stone. Come and see! \nAutumn Equinox is an astronomically significant solar event. It occurs when the sun is midpoint in its journey from Summer Solstice to Winter Solstice. The sun appears to rise at due east and set at due west. It is traditionally seen as a time of balance. The light of day and the dark of night are equal. It is a herald of winter; a time for settling in for the season of rest\, rejuvenation and root work. \n\n\n\nCOST: admission to Kinstone (pay in advance online OR place your cash admission in the Blue Payment Box attached to the Information Sign Board near the parking areas); No Registration Required \nDate: Saturday\, September 23\, 2023   Time: 6:30am – 8:00am (at Sunrise) \nLocation: The Three Witnesses Sculpture at Kinstone \n\n\n\nActual sunrise is expected at 6:54am for our location. However\, with the topography specific to Kinstone\, the time we witness it may be just a bit later. Come at 6:30 to enjoy the predawn horizons and our brief program before we stand to watch the sun arrive. \nWe will gather in the center of The Three Witnesses sculpture at Kinstone. Given fair weather and clear skies\, we will watch the sun as it crests the ridge and beams through the Equinox Window to light up the heart of the middle standing stone\, known as the “Heart Stone”. Given cloudy weather\, we will not see the sunrise\, but will greet it ceremoniously regardless. \n\n\nThis will be a quiet\, meditative event with a short opening rite and reading to welcome Spring. After the reading\, if the sun is visible\, participants may wish to watch the alignment through the Equinox Window\, see the heart highlighted in the center stone Witness\, sit in the light of the sun\, take photos\, and greet the sunrise. \n\nDress for the weather. Bring a camp chair to sit on\, for your comfort\, if you wish. Be prepared for it to be breezy and cool up here on the ridge! Many people underestimate the wind and cold. \nThis event is outdoors and will be held only in good weather. If it is raining this event will be cancelled.  Cancellations will be posted only on this event page and on the corresponding Facebook event page at least one (1) hour before the scheduled start time for this event. \n\n\nHAPPY AUTUMN! \nInteresting fact: The exact time of the astronomical Autumnal Equinox is Saturday\, September 23\, 2023 at 1:49am CDT.   \nPhoto Credit: Kristine Beck

SUMMARY:Last Sunset of Summer - Autumnal Equinox Sunset Observance
DESCRIPTION:Watch the Sunset Alignment and Catch the Sun on the Eve of Equinox \n9/22/23 5:30pm UPDATE: We are proceeding in the cloudy weather. Any who wish to may gather with us for a short program but we will NOT see the alignment due to the overcast skies! Rain expected at 7ish. Plan accordingly! \n\nThis event will be held as scheduled so as long as the weather is good. We will be outdoors where we will stand and watch the sunset. If the weather is bad\, we will cancel – watch for final updates on the day of the event.  \nThis Sunset Alignment event is held the evening before the date of Equinox as we say farewell to Summer by watching its last sunset together.  \nAt Kinstone we have a unique alignment visible only at Equinox at sunset. Stand with us and the Enlightenment Stones (Atlas and Lancelot) as the sun aligns to shine through the perforations in Lancelot and cast a line of bright points of light onto Atlas. Come and see! Join us to celebrate the coming of harvest-time and the golden season of autumn. \nAutumnal Equinox is an astronomically significant solar event. \nCOST: admission to Kinstone\, (pay in advance online OR place your cash admission in the Blue Payment Box attached to the Information Sign Board near the parking areas); No Registration Required \nDate: Friday\, September 22\, 2023  Time: 6:15pm – 7:15pm \nActual sunset is expected at 7:04pm for our location. However\, with the topography specific to Kinstone\, the time we witness it is always a bit earlier than expected.  \nThis will be a quiet\, meditative event with a short opening rite and reading to send Summer off with grace. Given fair weather and clear skies as the sun sets in the West\, we will witness the light as it passes through the “Wise One” (Lancelot) and enlightens the “World” (Atlas). If the sunlight is strong enough and unobstructed by clouds on the horizon\, we will see a line of polka-dots on Atlas and a select few folks may be able to “catch the sun” as it aligns with the perforations in Lancelot. We will begin watching for opportunities to Catch the Sun immediately after our readings. \nDress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear\, jackets\, scarves\, hats and gloves. Bring a camp chair or blanket to sit on\, for your comfort\, if you wish. Be prepared for it to be breezy and cool up here on the ridge. Many people underestimate the wind and cold. \n\n\nThis event is outdoors and will be held only weather permitting. If it is raining this event will be cancelled. Cancellations will be posted only on this event page and on the corresponding Facebook event page at least one (1) hour before the scheduled start time for this event. \n\nIMPORTANT: If you wish to ensure your chance to “catch the sun”\, please Contact Us to sign up by sending an email stating “I want to catch the sun” and include your full name and email address with the subject “Catch the sun”. During this event\, guests who have signed up will be invited\, in order of sign-up time\, to catch the sun as and if weather and sunlight conditions permit. After that\, anyone attending can try this on a first-come basis. As many as we can get through will be given a chance to be photographed with their hands catching the sun – bring a friend who can be your photographer! \n\nHAPPY AUTUMN! \nInteresting fact: The exact time of the astronomical Autumnal Equinox is Saturday\, September 23\, 2023 at 1:49am CDT.

SUMMARY:Vernal Equinox Sunrise Observance
DESCRIPTION:Vernal (Spring) Equinox Morning Observance\nWatch the Sunrise Alignment Enlighten the Heart Stone \nUPDATE Monday\, March 18\, 7pm: Due to lots of snow and ice\, we may not be able to get out to see the alignment! Ostara originates from celebrations dedicated to the German goddess Eostre. This is considered to be a precursor to the Christian celebration of Easter. The beginning of spring\, Vernal Equinox / Ostara is a good time to plant seeds – both literally and figuratively. This is also a good time to begin acting on the intentions you set during Winter Solstice (Yule\, Dec 2o-22) and St. Brigid’s Day (Imbolc\, Feb 1). The seeds you plant at Vernal Equinox/Ostara will be ready for harvest during the warmer months and the sacred days of  May Day (Beltane\, May 1-5)\, Summer Solstice (Litha\, June 20-22) and  celebrations of the first harvest (Lughnasadh\, August 1). \nHAPPY SPRING! \nInteresting fact: The exact time of the astronomical Vernal Equinox is Monday\, March 20\, 2023\, at 4:24pm CDT.   \nPhoto credit: Kristine Beck

(Many people underestimate the wind and cold.) \nThis event is outdoors and will be held only in good weather. If it is raining or snowing\, this event will be cancelled. \n\nHAPPY SPRING! \nInteresting fact: The exact time of the astronomical Vernal Equinox is Monday\, March 20\, 2023\, at 4:24pm CDT.  \nPhoto credit: Kristine Beck

SUMMARY:Summer Solstice Sunrise Observance
DESCRIPTION:Every Summer Solstice\, we stand and greet the sun as it enters the Great Stone Circle at sunrise. You are invited to join us as we recognize the passing of the seasons from Spring to Summer in this auspicious and sacred stone place. Witness the arrival of Summer and send Spring on its way with blessings. This year we have two special musicians joining us!! \nThis event will be held as scheduled as long as it is not raining or storming. We will be outdoors as we stand and watch the sunrise. If there is rain or it is storming\, we will cancel – watch for cancellation updates (if any) on the day of the event.  \nSPECIAL GUESTS: \n Shawn Vougeot: singer\, songwriter\, classical violinist\, television producer\, videographer and cofounder of New World Women\, will serenade the rising sun with her violin. \nAl “Good Heart” Baker: Big Drum Chief and Keeper of Sacred Song of the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa\, will drum and sing to honor the sun on this Summer Solstice. \nThis promises to be one of those deeply soulful experiences you get when your heart strings are plucked and you resonate in time with the whole universe. Don’t miss this!  (I know\, it’s early… but don’t go back to sleep!) \nWe will gather in the Great Stone Circle in time to witness the rising of the sun – actual sunrise is at 5:23am but it is usually at least 5:30 before it is fully visible in the stone circle. Feel free to arrive as early as 5:00am if you wish. \nGiven fair weather and a clear horizon\, we will watch the sun as it crests the ridge and is ushered through the Summer Solstice Corridor into the circle. It will set its golden glow upon anyone standing in the center of the circle. Further\, it will cast the shadow of those persons standing in the center onto the stone directly in the path of the sun – the “Shadow Stone”.  Fun fact: This stone also marks the exact point of Winter Solstice Sunset\, i.e.  summer solstice sunrise and winter solstice sunset occur along the exact same line.  Who knew? Truly magical! \nThis will be a quiet\, meditative event with a short opening rite and reading. We will also light a Solstice Fire. \nCOST: this event is FREE and open to the public\, No Registration Required  (Donations are greatly appreciated! Also\, if you plan to enjoy the Kinstone grounds for all or part of the day before or after this event\, please pay admission. Thank you! Admission can be paid in advance online or you can place cash into a Blue Payment Box on the Information Sign Board near the parking area when you arrive.) \nDate: Tuesday\, June 21\, 2022  Time: 5:15am – 6:15am \nThis event is outdoors. Please note that we will not see the alignment if it is cloudy or if the horizon is obstructed by morning mist\, fog\, or clouds. Dress for the weather\, be prepared to walk on dewy\, wet grass paths; bring a blanket or camp chair if you wish for your comfort; wear appropriate footwear\, scarves\, hats\, and even gloves if needed! Bring your own insect repellent if you wish. \nCancellation will occur in case of rain or storms. Cancellations will be posted only on this event page and on the corresponding Facebook event page at least 1 hour before the scheduled start time for this event. \nInteresting fact: The exact time of the astronomical Summer Solstice is Tuesday\, June 21\, 2022 at 4:13 am CDT.  \nPhoto credit: Kristine Beck

SUMMARY:First Sunrise of Autumn - Equinox Heart Alignment
DESCRIPTION:Autumn Equinox Morning Observance\nWatch the Sunrise Alignment Enlighten the Heart Stone \n\nJoin us to greet the first sunrise of Autumn! We will celebrate the Autumnal Equinox as we look to see the equinox sunrise alignment between sun and stone.\n\nAutumn Equinox is an astronomically significant solar event. It occurs when the sun is midpoint in its journey from Summer Solstice to Winter Solstice. The sun appears to rise at due east and set at due west. It is traditionally seen as a time of balance. The light of day and the dark of night are equal. It is a harbinger of winter; a time for settling in for the season of rest\, rejuvenation and root work. \nAt Kinstone we have a unique alignment visible only at Equinox at sunrise. Stand with us in The Three Witnesses sculpture as the sun aligns through the Equinox Window and highlights the Heart Stone. Come and see! \n\n\nWe will gather in the center of The Three Witnesses sculpture at Kinstone. Given fair weather and clear skies\, we will watch the sun as it crests the ridge (and the corn across the road!) and beams through the Equinox Window to light up the heart of the middle standing stone\, known as the “Heart Stone”. Given cloudy weather\, we will not see the sunrise\, but will greet it ceremoniously regardless! This will be a quiet\, meditative event with a short opening rite and reading. \nAfter our readings\, if the sun is visible\, participants may wish to look at the alignment through the Equinox Window\, see the heart highlighted in the Heart Stone\, sit in the light of the sun\, take photos\, and greet the sunrise. This gathering will last about 45 minutes to one hour. Actual sunrise is at 6:58am. However\, with the topography specific to Kinstone and the fields and trees in our view\, the time we witness it is always several minutes later. \n\n\n\nCOST: admission to Kinstone ($5/person) (pay in advance online OR place your cash admission in the Blue Payment Box attached to the Information Sign Board near the parking areas); No Registration Required \nDate: Wednesday\, September 22\, 2021   Time: 6:30am – 7:30am (at Sunrise) \nLocation: The Three Witnesses Sculpture at Kinstone \n\nDress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear\, jackets\, scarves\, hats and gloves! Bring a camp chair or blanket to sit on\, for your comfort\, if you wish. Be prepared for it to be breezy and cool up here on the ridge! (Most people underestimate the wind and cold.) \nThis event is outdoors and will be held only in good weather. In light of COVID-19\, for everyone’s health and safety\, we will NOT gather indoors for any portion of this program and no indoor social time will be offered. If it is raining or overcast\, this event will be cancelled.  \nCancellations will be posted ONLY on THIS event page and on the corresponding Facebook event page at least one (1) hour before the scheduled start time for this event. \n\nHAPPY AUTUMN! \nInteresting fact: The exact time of the astronomical Autumnal Equinox is Wednesday\, September 22\, 2021 at 2:21pm CDT.  \nPhoto Credit: Kristine Beck

SUMMARY:First Sunrise of Spring - Vernal Equinox Sunrise Observance
DESCRIPTION:Spring Equinox Morning Observance\nWatch the Sunrise Alignment Enlighten the Heart Stone \nIMPORTANT: This event will be held as scheduled so as long as the weather is good and there are no further mandates regarding COVID-19. We will be outdoors and avoid standing close together\, and we will stand and watch the sunrise! If the weather is bad\, we will cancel – watch for final updates on the day of the event. The Education Center will NOT be open during this event and there will be no available restroom facilities or place to get warm. Come prepared! \nWe will welcome the first sunrise of Spring together as we watch the Vernal Equinox sunrise alignment here at Kinstone. \nVernal (Spring) Equinox is an astronomically significant solar event. It occurs when the sun is midpoint in its journey from Winter Solstice to Summer Solstice. The sun appears to rise at due east and set at due west. It is traditionally seen as a time of balance. The light of day and the dark of night are equal. It is a harbinger of spring; a time for new beginnings\, growth\, and seeking the joy of the light. \nTRADITIONAL INFO: The Celtic Wheel of the Year and other pagan traditions call this day “Ostara”. Ostara originates from celebrations dedicated to the German goddess Eostre. This is considered to be a precursor to the Christian celebration of Easter. The beginning of spring\, Vernal Equinox / Ostara is a good time to plant seeds – both literally and figuratively. This is also good time to begin acting on the intentions you set during Winter Solstice (Yule\, Dec 2o-22) and St. \nAt Kinstone we have a unique alignment visible only at Equinox at sunrise. Stand with us in The Three Witnesses sculpture as the sun aligns through the Equinox Window and highlights the Heart Stone. Come and see! \nCOST: admission to Kinstone ($5/person) (pay in advance online OR place your cash admission in the Blue Payment Box attached to the Information Sign Board near the parking areas); No Registration Required \nDate: Saturday\, March 20   Time: 6:30am \nActual sunrise is expected at 7:14am for our location. However\, with the topography specific to Kinstone\, the time we witness it may be just a bit later! Come at 6:30 to enjoy the predawn horizons and our brief program before the sun rises! \n\n\n This will be a quiet\, meditative event with a short opening rite and reading to welcome Spring. After the reading\, if the sun is visible\, participants may wish to watch the alignment through the Equinox Window\, see the heart highlighted in the center stone Witness\, sit in the light of the sun\, take photos\, and greet the sunrise. \nDress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear\, jackets\, scarves\, hats and gloves! SUMMARY:Last Sunset of Summer - Catch the Sun - Fall Equinox
DESCRIPTION:Autumn Equinox Evening Observance\nWatch the Sunset Alignment and Try to Catch the Sun! \nCome celebrate the last sunset of Summer with us at Kinstone! Join us as we gather to observe the sunset alignment at Kinstone on the eve of the Fall (Autumnal) Equinox. We will gather near the stones known as Lancelot and Atlas for a short opening rite and reading.  Sunset is at 7:04pm according to the charts\, but is often a little earlier as seen from up on the ridge\, so we will begin watching for opportunities to Catch the Sun shortly after the reading at 6:30! \nGiven fair weather and clear skies as the sun sets in the West\, we will witness the light as it passes through the “Wise One” (Lancelot) and enlightens the “World” (Atlas). If the sun light is strong enough and unobstructed by clouds on the horizon\, we will see a line of polka-dots on Atlas and a select few folks may be able to “catch the sun” as it aligns with the perforations in the Wise One. Given cloudy weather\, we will not see the sunset\, but will greet it ceremoniously regardless! \nAutumnal Equinox is an astronomically significant solar event. \nCOST: Suggested Donation of $5/person – there will be a donation box at the event; No Registration Required \nDate: Monday\, September 21\, 2020  Time: 6:30pm – 7:30pm \nLocation: near the stones known as Atlas and Lancelot at Kinstone \nIf you wish to be given a chance to “catch the sun”\, please Contact Us to sign up by sending an email stating “I want to catch the sun” and include your full name\, email address and phone number with the subject “Catch the sun”. Guests who have signed up will be called in order of sign-up time – as many as we can get through will be given a chance to be photographed with their hands catching the sun – only if weather and sunset conditions permit the phenomenon to occur!  Bring a friend who can be your photographer! \nDress for the weather and wear sturdy walking shoes\, jackets\, scarves\, hats and gloves if chilly! Bring a camp chair or blanket to sit on\, for your comfort\, if you wish. \nDue to COVID\, if this event is rained out we will NOT be able to move this event indoors. Therefore\, it will be cancelled if the weather is rainy. Watch this Kinstone website event page as well as the corresponding event page on Facebook for updates on cancellations due to weather. We will post cancellation notifications no later than 1 hour before the scheduled start time of the event. \nInteresting fact: The exact time of the astronomical Autumnal Equinox is Tuesday\, September 22\, 2020 at 8:30 am CDT.  \nIMPORTANT: If you wish to wander the grounds of Kinstone please plan to pay regular admission as well. Thank you.

SUMMARY:Summer Solstice Sunrise Observance 2020
DESCRIPTION:6/21/20 4:15am update: There is heavy mist on the ridge\, but I will be in the circle to see what happens at sunrise. Any who can join\, please do – and drive carefully in this fog! \n6/20/20 4:15am update: THIS EVENT IS CANCELLED DUE TO RAIN! So sorry we cannot meet the sun today in the Circle! Happy Solstice! p.s. if the weather holds promise tomorrow\, we will meet on 6/21/20 at 5:15 instead!  \nEvery Summer Solstice\, we stand and greet the sun as it enters the Great Stone Circle at sunrise. You are invited to join us as we recognize the passing of the seasons from Spring to Summer in this auspicious and sacred stone place. \nIf it is not raining we will gather at 5:15 am in the Great Stone Circle in time to witness the rising of the sun – actual sunrise is at 5:23am but it is usually 5:30 before it visible in the stone circle. Due to COVID\, we prefer not to meet indoors\, so\, if it is raining\, we will CANCEL the event. \nGiven fair weather and a clear horizon\, we will watch the sun as it crests the ridge and is ushered through the Summer Solstice Corridor into the circle. It will set its golden glow upon anyone standing in the middle of the circle. Further\, it will cast the shadow of those persons standing there onto the stone directly in the path of the sun – the “Shadow Stone”.  Fun fact: This stone also marks the exact point of WINTER Solstice SUNSET\, i.e.  summer solstice sunrise and winter solstice sunset occur along the exact same line!  Truly magical! \nGiven cloudy weather\, we will not see the sunrise or the shadow\, but will greet the dawn of Summer ceremoniously regardless! This will be a quiet\, meditative event with a short opening rite and reading. Feel free to bring a reading or quote to share. Witness the arrival of Summer. Send Spring on its way with blessings. Although the actual sunrise is at 5:23am\, the topography of Kinstone means it will be just a little (about 8-10 minutes) later than that. Be there early\, just in case! Feel free to arrive as early as 5:00am if you wish. We will NOT meet afterwards for refreshments due to COVID. \nCOST: Suggested Donation of $5/person (place in Blue Payment Box on the Information Sign Boards near the parking areas); No Registration Required \nDate: Saturday\, June 20\, 2020  Time: 5:15am – 6:15am \nThis event is outdoors. It will be CANCELLED if raining. Please note that we will not see the alignment if it is cloudy or if the horizon is obstructed by morning mist\, fog\, rain\, or clouds. If it is raining or storming this event will be cancelled. Dress for the weather\, be prepared to walk dewy\, wet grass paths; bring a blanket or camp chair if you wish for your comfort outside; wear appropriate footwear\, scarves\, hats\, and even gloves if needed! Bring your own insect repellent if you wish! \nCancellation will occur in case of a RAIN. Cancellations will be posted ONLY on THIS event page and on the corresponding Facebook event page at least 1 hour before the scheduled start time for this event. \nInteresting fact: The exact time of the astronomical Summer Solstice is Saturday\, June 20 at 4:43 pm CDT.  \nIMPORTANT: If you wish to wander the grounds of Kinstone please plan to pay regular admission. Thank you. \nPhoto credit: Kristine Beck

If the sun light is strong enough and unobstructed by clouds on the horizon\, we will see a line of polka-dots on Atlas and a select few folks may be able to “catch the sun” as it aligns with the perforations in Lancelot. We will begin watching for opportunities to Catch the Sun at 7:00pm! \nGiven cloudy or rainy weather\, we will not see the moonrise or the sunset or the alignment\, but will greet these celestial events ceremoniously regardless! This will be a quiet\, meditative event with a short opening rite and reading. After our readings\, if the sun is visible\, participants may wish to try to “catch the sun”\, take photos\, and watch the sun go down as we welcome Spring. This year\, (again\, weather permitting) we will have the special treat of seeing a VERY FULL moon rising in the east as the sun sets in the west. We will witness the arrival of Spring and send Winter on its way with our blessings. \nThis gathering will last about an hour. Actual moonrise is at 7:00pm and actual sunset is at 7:29pm. However\, with the topography specific to Kinstone\, the times we witness these is always somewhat different. \n\nIf you wish to be given a chance to “catch the sun”\, please Contact Us to sign up by sending an email stating “I want to catch the sun” and include your full name and email address with the subject “Catch the sun”. During this event\, guests who have signed up will be invited\, in order of sign-up time\, to catch the sun as and if weather and sunlight conditions permit. As many as we can get through will be given a chance to be photographed with their hands catching the sun – only if weather and sunset conditions permit the phenomenon to occur! \n\nThis event is outdoors and will be held rain or shine. Again\, please note that we will not see the moonrise\, sunset\, or the alignment if it is cloudy or if the horizon is obstructed by mist\, fog or clouds. If it is raining\, we will gather indoors in the Kinstone Education Center. Cancellation will occur in case of a major storm. Dress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear\, scarves\, hats and gloves if chilly! Be prepared for it to be breezy and cooler than expected up here on the ridge! \nInteresting facts: The exact time of the astronomical Vernal Equinox is Wednesday\, March 20\, 2019\, at 4:58pm CDT. The exact time of the Full Moon on the same day is 8:42pm.
