SUMMARY:Self-Illumination Through Art and Words
DESCRIPTION:SELF–ILLUMINATION THROUGH ART AND WORDS\nCalling all humans! If you are a seeker\, someone who wants to find out more about yourself\, and find a way to express who you really are\, then this is a sure path to that end. We will be creative\, artistic and we will use our words. No experience necessary! In one six-hour workshop\, we will delve into ourselves and create a work that uses both art and writing as a form of self-expression and self-knowledge and self-illumination. \nYou will be presented with a plain Styrofoam mannequin head and a lot of decorative choices such as beads\, feathers\, paints\, sequins\, buttons\, you name it. You can even bring your own materials to use if you want. You will look at the mannequin as if it is a mirror and you will create the one you see there – yes\, yourself. \nAfter lunch (bring your own!) and some discussion\, you will write to that reflection. Any words you choose will be the right words – they may be poetry\, memoir\, possibly even fiction (if you feel that who you are requires a mask).  At the end\, you will walk out of this workshop with a better sense of who you are and what you can accomplish in your life. You will have gained new insights and you may feel more settled\, peaceful and firmly on your way. \nYou don’t need to be an artist to join in. You don’t need to be a writer to be a part of this. You just need to be YOU. All you need to be is…human! \nPlease bring your own sack lunch. Beverages (i.e. water\, tea\, and coffee) will be provided. \nDate: Saturday\, August 3 \nTime: 10:00am to 4:00pm (plan to arrive at least 10 minutes early!) \nLocation: the Kinstone Visitor Center; Kinstone\, S3439 Cole Bluff Lane\, Fountain City\, WI\, 54629 \nCOST: Regular Price: $95.00; Early Bird price through July 3: $75.00 \nTicket includes instruction\, a selection of art and writing materials\, and general admission to Kinstone. \nThere are No Refunds unless the event is cancelled by Kinstone. \n  \nLimited attendance! SUMMARY:Friday Kinections - Art and Poetry (First Fridays)
DESCRIPTION:Kinstone + Connections = Kinections!\nAre you looking for more opportunities for to deepen your connections to self and others? Join us at these open gathering times when we can be at Kinstone together to strengthen the body\, mind and spirit. We will be offering various experiences on Fridays during our open season led by various teachers\, artists\, drummers\, yogis\, and others from the region.  Times are the same each week and they are always donation based. We hope you join us as often as you can. \nThe idea is for us to regenerate and renew our relationships to ourselves\, others\, and our amazing natural world. Come explore the mysteries of your inner landscape while sharing energies with the mystical\, magical landscapes of Kinstone. \nKinections Through Art and Poetry on First Fridays \nSPECIAL ART EXPERIENCE ON SEPTEMBER 2:  SUMINAGASHI (also known as Japanese Paper Marbling). This art form is as meditative\, mystical and metaphysical as it is fun and easy to do. Come try it! We are hosting Dawn Tevis of SuminagashiScape to lead us in doing some suminagashi art during the Friday Kinections – Art and Poetry (First Fridays at Kinstone) event on FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 2. We’ll do this “floating ink” art on paper and maybe even on some smooth rocks that Kristine will provide! AND… we also plan to make some suminagashi inspired PRAYER FLAGS to add to the art installation that is part of the 4Ground Midwest Land Art! Exciting times! MARK YOUR CALENDARS for the First Friday – Friday Kinections event in September. \nEvery FIRST Friday\, May through October\, join us for a bit of creativity while we express ourselves through art and poetry. This year we are focusing on the creation of prayer flags that will become part of our “Growing Family” art installation that is part of the 4Ground Biennial Land Art festival going on all season. We welcome Valerie Savage and Shannon McHone as our leaders. They will be present to assist with supplies and ideas and they will hold the space for the group.  The leader is available to provide basic guidance. \nThe leader will be present and creating prayer flags\, art and/or poetry each FIRST Friday; the energy exchange happening within Kinstone during this hour each week is so important. The more who join in the more connections can be made and deepened. Come on\, join in\, and make a “kinection”! \nNo registration is required.  Rain or shine! \nLocation/Meeting Area: The FIRST Friday groups will meet inside the Education Center as a general rule where we will have paper\, fabric\, paints\, markers\, and other supplies for creative expression including making prayer flags and other art and poetry. Come early and wander the grounds\, visit your favorite standing stones\, and get inspired. \nWhat to bring: water bottle\, and any personal art supplies you may wish to bring \nCOST:  Admission to Kinstone…  and… the leaders appreciate a $5 to $10 suggested donation. \nThis is an informal\, donation based offering; which basically means come as you are and pay what you can using the suggested donation as a starting place. You must have paid your admission to Kinstone upon entering the grounds (either by credit card in advance online or in cash in the blue payment boxes on the information boards). There will be a separate collection point at the event where donations for the event will be taken. If you can pay the full suggested amount for the experience\, wonderful! If you can pay more than the suggested amount that would be awesome as you may be paying it forward for someone who cannot afford it. If you cannot afford the suggested amount\, pay what you can\, we understand. All are welcome no matter what their financial status is. We just ask that you make an honest donation. All donations go to the leader for the evening and to Kinstone for use of the space. \n\nFRIDAY KIN-ECTION EXPERIENCES \n\nFIRST Fridays: creative expression\, come make a prayer flag for our “Growing Family” art installation\nSECOND Fridays: group meditation\nTHIRD Fridays: drumming circles \nFOURTH Fridays: restorative yoga / movement sessions\nFIFTH Fridays: open practice; the fifth Fridays of the month (there are just 2 throughout the 2022 season) shall remain open for individual practices with no designated event\, theme or leader. If you arrive on a fifth Friday to engage in your own spiritual practice\, please make an honest donation in our blue payment boxes in addition to your admission to Kinstone. This is such an important energy exchange and helps Kinstone to be able to continue to offer these experiences. Thank you.
