SUMMARY:Drum Making with Wayne Manthey - June
DESCRIPTION:Making your own drum with Wayne Manthey is an experience of a lifetime! Join us! \n“The healing properties of a drum are found in the elements that make it: wood and animal hide. Making personal frame drums is a journey that is individually and spiritually meaningful… The drum symbolizes the heartbeat of life; the heartbeat of community. It is not simply an art form\, but a tool for cleansing\, centering and focusing one’s intentions for health and happiness.” ~ Wayne Manthey \n\n\nIn this educational workshop you will make your own one-sided drum. When people create their own drums they can’t help but develop deep connections to it. The drum you create becomes an extension of yourself and a gateway to greater understanding of your connection to all. \nMaking your own drum is a journey that you will remember for the rest of your life. It takes about 4 hours to make your drum. \n\n\n\nClass size is limited so each person can get enough individual attention during the workshop. All you need to do is show up with a bit of curiosity and a desire to have a drum of your own. That’s all you need\, really! \n\n\nWe start with a pre-constructed frame\, deer hides\, and a bucket of walnut stain. First\, you choose your frame\, lay out the hides\, and take a few moments of reflection to connect to this medium. After cutting out the drum circles\, Wayne will lead the group one step at a time\, through the rest of the process. All you need is to be there and do it! \n\nThere are no words that can completely describe what it feels like to make your own drum. Come experience it for yourself!\n\n\n\n\nDATE:  Saturday\, June 6\, 2026 \nTime: 12:30pm to 5:00pm (plan to arrive at least 10-15 minutes early; class goes to 4:30 with an extra 30 minutes for finishing up as/if required) \nLocation: the Kinstone Visitor Center \nCOST:  13 Inch Drum: $175  /  16 Inch Drum: $200 \nTICKET LINK:  Get your workshop ticket here. \nTicket includes instruction\, all required materials\, and general admission to Kinstone. \n\n\nThere are No Refunds unless the event is cancelled by Kinstone. \n\n\n\n\n\nAbout your instructor: Wayne Manthey \nBased in Minneapolis\, Minnesota\, USA\, Wayne Manthey is a nationally known drum maker and teacher of drum making. He has been making drums for over 33 years. His approach is spiritual\, honoring the animals who provided the hides and the trees who donated the wood. \nWayne began by making his own drums which eventually became a true calling to create drums and to teach others to do the same. He has a gallery and studio in Minneapolis where buyers and curious individuals can view his works of art. He has a variety of handmade drums at his studio\, each unique and made of animal hides such as elk or deer and accessorized by other materials including antlers and rocks. Visit his website at this link: https://waynemantheydrummaker.com/ \n\n\n\nNOTE: If you can’t make it to this event on either of the dates offered this year\, please Contact Us to let us know of your interest. If we have enough interest we will bring Wayne back again to do more workshops next year if possible.
