Come explore the mysteries of your inner landscape while sharing energies with the mystical\, magical landscapes of Kinstone. \nJoin us for monthly Kinections through DRUMMING on first Tuesdays. \n\nEvery First Tuesday\, May through October\,  – yes\, even on the Fourth of July – join us for a drum circle in the Great Stone Circle; led by Cheri Bunker. Cheri is a trained drumming facilitator and has led many drum circles and programs that promote the positive effect of the drum on health. \nDrumming is an ancient practice that feeds the soul and the mind and is a great wellness tool with many documented health benefits. Join us outdoors in the midst of the energy of the Great Stone Circle. Each month we will do different types of drumming. For example\, one month may be all frame drums and another a mix of world drums and hand percussion; sometimes we may sit in a circle and other times we may move about or walk in rhythm. \nAbsolutely no drumming experience is necessary and if you do not have a drum\, one will be provided for you. If you do have a drum or hand percussion instrument\, please bring it along! Participants are encouraged to move freely within the circle with drums or dance to the primal beat. We will end each circle with a melodic rhythm meditation that is deeply moving. Please bring a chair or blanket for your comfort if you wish. \nThe energy exchange happening within Kinstone during time is so important. The more who join in\, the more connections can be made and deepened. Come on\, join in\, and make a “kinection”! \nNo registration is required. Rain or shine! \nWHEN:  first Tuesdays from 5:30pm to 6:30pm \nLocation/Meeting Area: The group will meet in the Great Stone Circle as a general rule. If it is raining\, the group will meet under the pavilion of the Dragon’s Keep or inside the Chapel of Creation depending upon the number of participants. If there is thunder\, lightning\, or high winds\, the event will be cancelled. Come early and wander the grounds\, visit your favorite standing stones\, and get inspired. \nCOST:  This experience is donation based + the entrance fee to Kinstone ($10). SUMMARY:Monthly Drum Circle in the Stones
DESCRIPTION:Kinstone + Connections = Kinections!\nAre you looking for more opportunities for to deepen your connections to self and others? Our hope is to keep these accessible to any who are feeling the call to drum with us. Consider a Season Pass to Kinstone if you plan to attend these events regularly! NO REGISTRATION NEEDED\, JUST SHOW UP! \nWhat to bring: water bottle\, mat and/or blanket\, chair or cushion\, and/or other items you wish for your comfort including your own sunscreen and/or insect repellent\, and a drum if you have one and wish to bring it. \n\nWHAT IS A DRUM CIRCLE? \nA drum circle is a gathering of people playing drums and percussion instruments\, usually sitting in a circle and sometimes led by a trained facilitator. Participants have claimed that drum circles boost energy\, uplift spirits\, release tension and stress\, offer healing\, and promote community. \n\nMonthly dates; always the first Tuesday of the month: \nMAY 2\nJUNE 6 \nJULY 4 ~ Yes – we will meet on this holiday!! Plein air artists work to capture the spirit and essence of a landscape or subject by incorporating natural light\, color and movement into their art. \nAccording to Wikipedia\, in the mid-19th century\, working in natural light became particularly important to various artists and schools of art (e.g. the Barbizon school\, Hudson River School\, and Impressionists). Wikipedia goes on to say French impressionist painters such as Monet\, Pissarro\, Cezanne\, Van Gogh and Renoir advocated plein air painting and much of their work was done outdoors. \nThere has been a recent revival of interest in plein air painting in the United States. Groups of plein air artists have begun gathering together to paint at single locations or within certain geographic boundaries giving them a chance to share their talents and creativity with the public and with one another. \nFind out more about plein air painting and related events by visiting any of the following websites: \nWisconsin Plein Air Painters Association (WIPAPA) \nOutdoor Painters of Minnesota (OPM) \nPlein Air Painters of America (PAPA)

Indigo skies and opal clouds are enticing. The green paths look like strings of emeralds amidst the golden\, citrine\, and amber grasses and prairie plants.  Walk along the jeweled way to find other gems that make Kinstone so wondrous: the labyrinth\, dolmen\, Circle of Mystery and more. Curvilinear rows of arborvitae and spruce hug the land and shelter you as you immerse yourself in color\, light\, and movement. Come\, be enchanted. \n\nParticipating artists are encouraged to pre-register. Pre-registration is not required; however\, there is a discount for those that register before October 3. Do you love painting outdoors? Are you inspired by the beauty of Nature? Do the standing stones and sacred\, intentional spaces of Kinstone intrigue and inspire you? Join us! \nKinstone is a contemplative\, park-like place with spectacular views\, intriguing stonework\, and natural buildings. This stunning 30-acre bluff-top property has a fabulous view of the Mississippi River as well as over 100 standing stones including three stone circles\, megalithic dolmen\, classic 7-circuit labyrinth\, thatched\, cordwood chapel\, dry-stack stone sculpture\, natural buildings\, food forest gardens\, raised bed gardens\, 2-acre prairie\, pond\, woodlands\, fields and more. \n\nOur mission states: “Kinstone blends conscious care of the Earth with art to form sacred spaces that invite and inspire people to connect with and experience the creative power of the land to transform\, energize and revive the body\, mind and spirit.” To further this mission\, we are offering three Plein Air Paint Days in 2020 to connect artists and the sacred beauty of the land: Spring\, Summer\, and Autumn – each one with slightly different details. We are excited about all the possibilities and creative wonder that will manifest from this connection. \n\nSo\, What is Plein Air Painting? \nEn Plein Air is a French expression meaning “in the open air” and it describes the practice of artists painting outdoors with the subject directly in view rather than in a studio. \nFind out more about plein air painting and related events by visiting any of the following websites: \nWisconsin Plein Air Painters Association (WIPAPA) \nOutdoor Painters of Minnesota (OPM) \nPlein Air Painters of America (PAPA) \n  \n——————————————————– \n“The bright summer had passed away\,\nand gorgeous autumn was flinging its\nrainbow-tints of beauty on hill and dale.”\n~ Cornelia L. SUMMARY:A Kirtan Experience in the Stone Circle
DESCRIPTION:Come experience KIRTAN with us and even sing along here at Kinstone in our beautiful stone circle. Lotus Head\, a transcendental lounge and kirtan band from Viroqua Wisconsin will lead us in this enchanting musical encounter. They will perform mostly original kirtan compositions designed to assist us in connecting with our wholeness. Be ready to raise your vibrations with their mystical music\, ancient chants and powerful affirmations. \nJai Lynn leads with lyrics\, harmonium and percussion. She will guide us into harmony. Monte plays gong and drums (as well as bass and piano when power is available!); he has over 30 years of musical experience. Together Jai Lynn and Monte create an awakening and transcendental experience. \nCome enjoy! \nSo\, you may ask\, WHAT IS KIRTAN???  Read on… \nKirtan is music. It may be quite a different kind of music than you are used to. It comes from India and largely consists of mantras or chants sung by a leader and then repeated by the audience. It’s a kind of sing-a-long. Many of the songs are sung in Sanskrit and are based on ancient chants. Since you do not know the words\, you can immerse yourself in the music and quiet your mind. It can be a very meditative and magical experience. \nThe following italicized text is quoted from Kitzie Stern\, producer of the podcast\, New World Kirtan: \n“What is Kirtan? \n\n\n\n\n\nIt began in India centuries ago as a spiritual practice\, and was known as the layman’s way to connect with the Divine.\nIn the last ten years\, kirtan has become a phenomenon across the United States\, and has transformed musically to appeal to the ears of American audiences.\nKirtan is a new kind of concert experience here in the West.  It’s not so much a performance as a journey into the self through the practice of listening & singing.  The leaders at a kirtan concert are called wallahs\, and everyone is part of the music.  My all-time favorite descriptions of a kirtan concert: “It’s like singing around a campfire”\, “It’s like a hootenanny with meditation.”\nWhile singing along at a kirtan concert\, you can experience your own voice becoming as beautiful as those performing—all voices merge together to become One Voice.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKirtan is a very simple & powerful way to meditate.  It’s effortless & joyful; the music does the work for you as you flow with the melody & rhythm.\nThe performers & the concert-goers create the experience together.\nThe chants are sung in Sanskrit unless you attend a Sikh kirtan ( e.g. Snatam Kaur).  The ancient chants contain powerful renewing & transformative energy that helps us reconnect with the Divinity that resides within all of us.\nSinging is the heart of kirtan\, and no one cares what you sound like.  At a kirtan concert all voices merge together to become One Voice.\nKirtan is non-denominational\, the Universal language of Spirit\, the song of the Soul.”\n\n\n\nIMPORTANT: This is a non-smoking\, alcohol free\, kid-friendly event. This event will be held rain or shine. If the weather is not ideal for outdoor listening we will hold this event inside the Kinstone Education Center. No refunds. \nDate:  Friday\, June 28\, 2019  Time:  6:00 pm Tickets:  $12.00 up to 24 hours in advance\, $15.00 at the door. Kids 12 & under are FREE but must be accompanied by an adult registered for the event! \nPurchase tickets through Eventbrite by clicking HERE or by clicking on the link labeled “Website:”  in the right-hand column on this page; your printed receipt is required for entry. \nPay at the door (cash only) is possible but requires a reservation in advance\, so if you plan to come and pay at the door please CONTACT US to register! Advanced payment is preferred. \nNOTICE:  Bring your own chair or blanket to sit on. Dress for the weather and bring your own insect repellent and/or sunscreen if needed.
