Plein air artists work to capture the spirit and essence of a landscape or subject by incorporating natural light\, color and movement into their art. \nAccording to Wikipedia\, in the mid-19th century\, working in natural light became particularly important to various artists and schools of art (e.g. the Barbizon school\, Hudson River School\, and Impressionists). Wikipedia goes on to say French impressionist painters such as Monet\, Pissarro\, Cezanne\, Van Gogh and Renoir advocated plein air painting and much of their work was done outdoors. \nThere has been a recent revival of interest in plein air painting in the United States. Groups of plein air artists have begun gathering together to paint at single locations or within certain geographic boundaries giving them a chance to share their talents and creativity with the public and with one another. \nFind out more about plein air painting and related events by visiting any of the following websites: \nWisconsin Plein Air Painters Association (WIPAPA) \nOutdoor Painters of Minnesota (OPM) \nPlein Air Painters of America (PAPA)

SUMMARY:Autumn Plein Air Paint Day & Art Sale
DESCRIPTION:ARTISTS and ART LOVERS! Join us for this day of outdoor art! Artists will enjoy creating artworks inspired by the many beautiful vistas at Kinstone.  Art lovers and visitors will enjoy a walk around Kinstone where each can enjoy observing and talking with the artists and perhaps – if they are so inspired – purchase a new piece of art to support the artists and Kinstone! \nArtists of every painting medium and every skill level are invited to create plein air works at our Autumn Plein Air Paint Day & Art Sale on Saturday\, October 3\, 2020\, from 9am-4:00pm at Kinstone. Artists may exhibit and sell any works produced during this event (or those created at prior paint days at Kinstone) between 4pm and 6pm on Saturday and between 12pm and 5pm on Sunday at Kinstone. Our 8th Annual Autumn Open House is from 12pm to 5pm on Sunday\, October 4 and we expect a large crowd that afternoon! Extending the exhibition and sale during our Open House event increases exposure and sales for everyone! For this event\, Kinstone will retain 25% of all artist’s sales. Unless otherwise arranged\, participating artists must remove their artwork by 6:30pm on Sunday\, October 4. \n\nAUTUMN at Kinstone is stunning and colorful. Yellow goldenrod pervades the landscape and the prairie is burnished gold with pungent pops of pink and purple New England Asters. The standing stones hold firm in the crisp\, fall air and pose confidently against the multihued backdrop of the Kinstone woodlands. The pond is ringed with plump\, brown cattails. Indigo skies and opal clouds are enticing. The green paths look like strings of emeralds amidst the golden\, citrine\, and amber grasses and prairie plants.  Walk along the jeweled way to find other gems that make Kinstone so wondrous: the labyrinth\, dolmen\, Circle of Mystery and more. Curvilinear rows of arborvitae and spruce hug the land and shelter you as you immerse yourself in color\, light\, and movement. Come\, be enchanted. \n\nParticipating artists are encouraged to pre-register. Pre-registration is not required; however\, there is a discount for those that register before October 3. Join us! \nKinstone is a contemplative\, park-like place with spectacular views\, intriguing stonework\, and natural buildings. We are excited about all the possibilities and creative wonder that will manifest from this connection. \n\nSo\, What is Plein Air Painting? \nEn Plein Air is a French expression meaning “in the open air” and it describes the practice of artists painting outdoors with the subject directly in view rather than in a studio. \nFind out more about plein air painting and related events by visiting any of the following websites: \nWisconsin Plein Air Painters Association (WIPAPA) \nOutdoor Painters of Minnesota (OPM) \nPlein Air Painters of America (PAPA) \n  \n——————————————————– \n“The bright summer had passed away\,\nand gorgeous autumn was flinging its\nrainbow-tints of beauty on hill and dale.”\n~ Cornelia L.
